Description:
In this tutorial you will learn how to play the song “Let the Flag fly High from the Castle of your heart” (aka “Joy/Love is the Flag flown High from the Castle of my Heart”) on guitar. I will be demonstrating three right hand techniques: two easy strumming patterns for beginners and one advanced strum which you might find more challenging. In the lesson I will also show you what key to sing (we do it in A) and explain which strings to play for each of the chords involved.
“Let the Flag fly High” is a lively and catchy Christian guitar song to sing with kids. They might also enjoy the background story of the flag being flown whenever the king or queen is at home, or “in residence” at the castle. Two possible related scriptures for instructional purposes:
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:14-16)
and
12 “Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” (1 Peter 2:12; NIV)
Keep practicing this strumming pattern to build your right hand technique, and remember to add this happy Christian song to your collection of songs to sing with kids for home worship.
